RULE CHANGES

1.   Age Divisions for 2009 (Kathy Campbell)

2.      Move that shot clocks be used only for tournaments sanctioned by the NCAA.

FAILED

 

3.      All ages played under the same format (5/6 team pools) single elimination with

Championship and Consolation Bracket.

           FAILED

     

4.      Tournament Days

Starting with 2009 the National Tournament playing days will be reduced to 5 days.

PASSED

    

5.      Allow girls to participate within the same club in any DQT, SRT, or National Champion-

           ship in which they are eligible.  Participation not allowed on two teams in same age

           bracket. 

           FAILED (17 for 24 against)

 

6.      Player Team Participation

Girls can play in three age/grade divisions as long as it’s the same club.

PASSED

Amendment:  The motion is to allow a team that qualifies for Division 1 to play up an

Age/grade level and participate in Division 2.

PASSED

    

7.      PLEASE COPY THIS FROM THE CD (I CAN’T GET IT DONE)

8.      Pick up Players:  A team that qualifies for a National Tournament may add a maximum of 5 players to its district roster purpose of participating in the national tournament by the entry deadline date of the event.  The total number of players designated to play in the

National Tournament may not exceed 15 players.

9.      Teams to earn bid to nationals:  Top 8 teams I Division I Championship bracket and Top 4

Teams in Classic Bracket receive a bid back to the Division I National Championship for the following year:  These bids go back to the club and not the district.  Teams must play in their District qualifier for the bid to be valid unless approved by National Sports Chair.  Top 8 teams in Division II Championship bracket and Top 4 teams in the Classic Bracket receive a bid back to the Division II National Championship the following year.

10.  Bench Personnel:  All teams must have at least one and no more than four registered

Amended to:  only NCAA certified events

11.  All-American Awards:  All American awards will be awarded to the Jr. Eligible division

Only.

12.  Game Playing Times:

8 Under use 7 minute quarters

 9 Under and 10 Under use 16 minute halves

 8 Under use Rawlings 27.5” and 12 foot free throw line

 9 Under use Rawlings 28.5 and 15 foot free throw line

Reconsideration:

o       8 under remains 6 minute quarters

PASSED

             Amendment:  If a team is up by 15 or more points the winning team cannot press

                                    Until the offensive team reaches the three point line.  Penalty for

                                    Breaking the rule is first a warning; second time an administrative

                                    Technical foul and if broken a third time a technical foul will be

                                    Given to the coach.  This rule will also include 9 under.

            PASSED

 

o       9 Under amended to 14 minute halves.

PASSED

 

o       9 Under use 28.5” ball and 15 foot free throw line

FAILED

 

13.  Host Teams:  The LOC that is to host a National Championship is allowed to enter a team  

Provided they meet all the AAU requirements.    Friendly amendment:  The National

Sports Chair may also enter host teams in any or all events as needed for bracketing assistance.

PASSED

 

14.  National Championship events will be no longer than 5 days in duration.  Maximum of

Three days duration for super regional tournament.  Amendment:  It may last more than

Three days if it is a federally recognized holiday or is approved by the national chair.

PASSED

 

 

15.  6 minute warm-up; 6 minute halftime.

Amendment:  10 minute warm-up (stays the same); 6 minute halftime
